-- In order to make his popular CompactFlash for Apple II card usable with
earlier Apple II models, Rich Dreher has released a firmware version
that will run on Apple ][ and ][+ computers with only 6502 (not 65C02)
CPUs. Users who wish to use a solid-state hard-drive in their early
Apples should visit the CFFA website at:
http://spudboy.dreher.net/CFforAppleII

- 8-bit Apple II users are getting closer to being able to get their
machines onto the Internet directly. Using Contiki in conjunction with a
home-built ethernet card developed by Glenn Jones, the website shows a
9MB video showing the Apple port of the software in operation. More
information regarding Contiki can be found at
http://www.sics.se/~adam/contiki/ . Information about Mr. Jones'
ethernet card can be located at:
http://members.rogers.com/apple2stuff/AppleII_ethell_inks.htm

- Apple IIGS users have a new option for upgrading or replacing RAM cards
in their computers. Bill Garber and Vince Briel have designed and are
taking orders for a new 4-meg RAM card. Orders are currently being
taken for the card which is priced at a very reasonable $49 for a
memory-populated card. More information about the card can be found at:
http://garberstreet.netfirms.com/RAM-4-GS.html

- Andy McFadden has announced an update to his popular CiderPress
software. Version 1.2.5. now has the ability to convert to and from
TrackStar 40-track ".APP" image files. This allows TrackStar users to
create images using the TrackStar system in an Apple II emulator, and
reverses the process, allowing disk images created for use in emulators
to be used on a TrackStar board. The revision also contains other
program fixes. More information can be found at:
http://www.faddensoft.com/

- Early Apple II users who don't want to upgrade to the 65C02 CPU may have
a new replacement option for the original 6502 processor. Daryl Rictor
has designed and is in the processing of developing a direct replacement
of the CPU information about his progress can be found at:
http://65c02.tripod.com/conv.html. Price each should be around $20.00
per unit. Email Daryl at 65c02@softcom.net for additional information.

- Early registration for Kfest is past, but registrations continue to come
in for the popular Apple II Mecca located in Kansas City. Attendees
willing to share their expertise with other Kfesters are encouraged to
sign up to host a session or demonstration. More info about Kfest can
be found at: http://www.kfest.org and session signups can be done at:
http://www.kfest.org/SessionProposal.html
